Charlotte Mary Yonge

Charlotte Mary Yonge was an English novelist best known for her numerous works of domestic and historical fiction, which often explore family, duty, faith, and personal sacrifice. Closely associated with the Oxford Movement, she drew extensively on religious and moral themes while creating detailed portraits of family and community life. Her most celebrated novel, The Heir of Redclyffe (1853), became a major Victorian bestseller, followed by works including The Daisy Chain, The Trial, and The Pillars of the House. Yonge published more than sixty novels and remained a prolific writer throughout her life.
