F. Anstey

F. Anstey was the pen name of Thomas Anstey Guthrie, an English writer best known for his comic and fantastical fiction. Educated at Cambridge, he achieved immediate success with Vice Versa, a humorous tale of magical transformation that became a classic of Victorian light fantasy. Anstey went on to write novels, short stories, and plays that blended satire, the supernatural, and social observation, often gently mocking the conventions of middle-class life. A prolific contributor to magazines such as Punch, he remained a popular and distinctive voice in English humour well into the early twentieth century.
