Geraldine Jewsbury

Geraldine Jewsbury was an English novelist, essayist, and literary critic whose fiction often explored marriage, religion, morality, and the position of women in Victorian society. Her best-known novel, The Half Sisters (1848), was followed by works including Marian Withers and Constance Herbert, which examine the tensions between personal independence and social expectations.
